WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES HABITAT

The Corps is the steward of approximately 12 million acres of land and water consisting of hundreds of lakes, thousands of miles of rivers and streams, 40,000 archeological sites, and 5,000 historic sites. The Corps conducts a wide array of initiatives designed to manage the natural resources in a healthy and sustainable condition, balance public uses, and protect our cultural heritage. These efforts are performed in partnership with Federal, State and local government entities, quasi-public organizations, and the private sector.

The Corps Foundation assists in this mission by partnering with a wide range of organizations including local Friends groups, private individuals and businesses to undertake environmental projects at the lakes that protect and reestablish healthy fish and wildlife habitats and cultural resource sites.
